Change is good, as they say…

Do you know someone that just won’t change?  Does s/he dislike their own life so much, but won’t make even the smallest attempt to change it?

I believe we all know someone like this and may have even been there ourselves at one point.  I’m not above this and I’m not judging, because I have been there probably twice in my life so far.  Let’s be honest, it happens.  Maybe some trauma or negative event happens in our lives and we just fall down and feel like we can get up.  I’ve been in a rut before, I won’t lie, and it was difficult to see the light at the end of the tunnel sometimes.  It can really just depend on how much time you want to spend in that rut and if you actually feel like getting out of it.  I’d say mostly, we want to get out of it but for a time we won’t perform the actions required to get back up.  I can’t comment on why we won’t perform these actions, it’s different for each person… but if you’re saying you want a better life, well then, you gotta do something about it (I know, clichéd, but it’s true right?).

Pretending not good enough!

I know having the tools and the resources for change is important as well.  We all have differing backgrounds and current situations, so I know it’s not easy to go from flipping burgers to being a CEO of a company or just travelling all your life.  But, there are ways we can make small changes to get to bigger changes along the way.  Don’t like small changes?  Impatient?  Well, I am too.  In the process, I have had to learn to be a little more patient and take things as they come.  I know people say that the universe works in mysterious ways, which has always bugged me, but this can be true.  We can’t rush everything or really, we end up settling.  And, no one really likes to settle.  So, don’t rush it and don’t settle, get the life you want even if it requires the little steps!

Want an example?  It’s not the biggest and greatest example, but here you go:  I’m a shy person, so when I moved to a new city I found it very, very difficult to meet new people.  For a long time I just sat in a rut with this and didn’t do anything about it, but I finally got to the point that I couldn’t do that any longer.  So, I had to take that big step and go out to meet people and network.  One of the easiest ways to do this is volunteer!  I volunteered for a great event last month (YYC4SlaveLake) and met a number of awesome people who are dedicated to helping and fun to be around.  Of course, I’m not close friends with them yet, but relationships and connections may grow over time, but at least I got out there.

So readers, this is a plea… a plea to get you to start making the small changes required to get where you want to be!  I am trying my best and worked hard to pick myself up and I know you can do it too.  It’s hard work, I know.  It can take a long time, I’m aware.  But, trust me on this one, it’ll be worth it in the end.  Wouldn’t you like to be a little bit happier today?  Don’t lie, I know you would.  Alright, get out there and have a great day! 🙂 ॐ

Have you made any small changes in your life lately?  What did you do?
